Evel No More

Today, February 25, 2008, 1 hour ago | Drew Dyck

When iconic daredevil Evel Knievel died at 69 last November, many were surprised—not by his passing—but that he lived as long as he did. The fearless showman made a name for himself in the ’70s with death-defying jumps and spectacular crashes. By the time he retired in 1980 he had suffered nearly 40 broken bones.

But the life of the hard-living legend had a surprise ending. Just months before succumbing to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, Knievel had a dramatic encounter with God. In April Knievel was baptized during the Rev. Robert Schuller’s Hour of Power service at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. Schuller told of how Knievel had called him a couple weeks earlier, telling him, “I’ve accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.”

The stuntman’s conversion prompted an impromptu mass baptism that morning. More than 500 came forward to committ or rededicate their lives to the Lord. Knievel would die six months later, but it seems his last jump had a succesful landing.

The angels in heavan have already rejoiced and now I have. What man who grew up in the 7os did not have this guy as a hero. I cant tell you how many ramps we jumped pretending to be him. Man that Evel Knievel bike was a thing of beauty, cuzz had one. Thanks Evel for the thrills of the past and the thrill of knowing that I will see you again.

Muhammad’s agent in discussions with Panthers

Looking to get help for receiver Steve Smith, the Carolina Panthers could bring back an old favorite.

He was good for us when he was here and he became a good citizen so why not bring the man back. He is going to be 35 by the start of the season but the man is one of the best blocking WR I have seen no offense Hines Ward. Man the other twos we have had over the last few years have just not given our one much help. Dropped passes, which is now the nock on Muhammad, has been a huge problem so we will see what the man might be able to do.  I think its a good move if they can come to terms if only for what a vet can teach the newbies.

The Destitution of Service

Natural human love expects something in return. But Paul is saying, “It doesn’t really matter to me whether you love me or not. I am willing to be completely destitute anyway; willing to be poverty-stricken, not just for your sakes, but also that I may be able to get you to God.” “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor . . .” ( 2 Corinthians 8:9 ). And Paul’s idea of

I started the Belly Off! plan from menshealth.com five weeks ago. Here are some guys who are doing the plan and what they have accomplished. My story is that I have not lost much since the first day, five pounds, but I can tell that the old jeans fit better and some a little loose.  I have had a struggle with eating sweets at the wrong time but I feel much better than I did five weeks ago. It is most likely in my head but that has got to count for something. I think and therefore I am.
